Lookit that

A line drawing study from a model on deviant art. His eyes look a little close together to me.

A question for any readers.

So Im drawing characters and props from the movie Sorcerer. The image on the left is Roy Scheider playing a character named Scanlon. The image on the right is a WIP copy Im tring to do by eyeball and maybe a little super imposing and tracing, though im trying to avoid that as much as possible.

Im trying to decide if it works better to have his faced shaded very flat under the brim of his hat or more rendered. Do shadows stack, or flatten out? Any opinions on that or other constructive crits would be very welcome.

A pause before continuing....

Im working on a Doug Chiang style drawing and I thought this would be a good point to stop at for a second and get my bearings.






I plan on going back in and grunging it up some more and then add highlights with gauche.
